Unveiling Inner Obstacles: The Journey to Mindful Awareness and Spiritual Growth

Sometimes, what we are unconscious of is what is holding us back the most.
On a cold snowy Colorado day after shoveling the driveway and getting ready to drive to the gym, I get in my car and start driving only to find an unexpected surprise.

I am sliding all over the place! I am almost sliding into poles and having a hard time breaking at any speed.
Is it because the roads are so bad? Nope….
It’s because my tires are bald out and so I have no grip whatsoever.
When things are dry and good I wouldn’t even notice, I’d just keep driving along, but now that conditions outside are bad I am painfully aware of how unequipped I am!

Has that ever happened to you?
A lot of times we go about life, not being aware of the bald tires of our soul.
We aren’t totally miserable or stuck so we think things are good enough, and we get complacent.
But what happens when we get complacent with our own inner being?
We start to live on auto-pilot or even worse start to live based on the programming of the world (which isn’t programming you for your happiness sadly).

You have probably heard of the snowball effect. Where a small piece of snow starts to roll down a hill, collecting up more and more snow until it becomes a massive snowball headed your way.

Well, unconsciousness or complacency can have the same effect on our life. We start to fall into old habits or patterns or just let energy sit in our space long enough to where we go, from things that are okay, to things are real bad! It may seem like things just randomly happen to us, but really, it all started with something small, a decision made in vain, a thought, a micro experience that went unprocessed.
As a culture, we don’t make time to go within and sit with ourselves, and thus we don’t make time to process things and get back to ourselves.
We start to become the accumulation of energies rather than being clear pristine vessels for our own light.

What’s the solution?
If you stay mindful, conscious, and present with your inner being you can start to notice when you are even the slightest bit less than in joy and start to address the energy or cause there, when it is a small baby snowball, before it has escalated into full-blown life blow up or panic.
So it starts with creating some time to be still and go within.


This may sound like a pipe dream if you are used to living life like a rollercoaster of ups and downs and calling that “being human”. Sure a big part of having a body is having emotions and ups and downs, but if you learn to be mindful or aware of your inner state of being you don’t have to get that diversity of experience (something we crave) from drama or big high and low lows, but instead you can start to experience that diversity as the expansion of awareness and deepening of your experience of self.

That inner state of peace, joy, bliss even, isn’t based on the body's senses, desires, or outer conditions and so while there are still highs and lows to that spiritual exploration, they aren’t based in drama, but rather expanded into transcendent states of consciousness, and then integrating back into the body and life. Things are always moving forward, you are always growing and stepping up your baseline level of energy that you operate out of.

What do I mean? Well if you are used to your baseline operation being “Okay, well, I won’t kill myself today, I’ll keep going even though all hope seems lost” - through this mindful awareness practice, you would discover the root energies keeping that state as your baseline. You have highs and lows from there, but that’s the base you are coming back to.
Spiritual growth increases the baseline to which you are coming back.

You might still have highs and lows but you come back to a solid baseline of I am okay, I can get through this. Then a few months later that baseline is I am at peace and things are working out for me, and so on and so forth until your baseline becomes living in an elevated state, you feel spiritually high, connected, open, and in touch with your purpose and path.

You are still human and have ups and downs, but you have a solid baseline of energy or state of being to come back to that is gradually getting brighter and brighter and you become more and more free.

It isn’t always easy, it takes time and practice, but making small deposits into your meditation practice daily sets you up for a bright future and a more manageable now :)

So again what is the solution?
Meditation. Going within. Being in stillness.

However many people don’t know how to quiet their minds or go within, they just get stuck in the mental noise and give up.
